Could a ‘Royal Pains’ season 9 happen someday?

We know that the series finale of “Royal Pains” has just finished airing on USA, but we like to think that it is never too early to start looking towards the future in one way or another … which is precisely why we’re here right now to discuss whether or not there could be another season, or at least a TV movie, down the line.

Is it possible? In theory, we know the answer to be yes. As a matter of fact, we spoke to executive producers Andrew Lenchewski and Michael Rauch about the future in a postmortem of the finale, and while nothing is currently planned, it certainly seems that it is possible. Ultimately, it really comes down to what the network wants to do in the future.

Unfortunately, we don’t think that you are going to see anything more in this particular world of the Hamptons anytime soon, given that the cast is moving on to other projects, the producers are working on new ideas, and it wouldn’t make any sense to call tonight a series finale if the plan was to bring the show back next year. Maybe in a few years, there could be enough affection and love out there for the show for there to be at least a TV movie. We do think there could be more of a market for these things over time thanks to the sentiment of nostalgia and the current zeitgeist when it comes to revivals, but for now, let’s just wait and see … and enjoy the finale for what it was. Hank finally has the happiness he was looking to have for so long.
