‘Maya & Marty’: Jerry Seinfeld mocks ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ with Amy Poehler
On tonight’s new episode of “Maya & Marty,” we saw our hosts once again have a heck of a lot of fun, but for the most part, it was the celebrity guests who we will remain more so than anyone else. After a slight dip from an excellent premiere, this show is starting to feel more like the summer version of “Saturday Night Live” we first envisioned it to be.
The highlight from the early portion of the show to us was clearly getting a chance to see a spoof of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” featuring some outtakes of people who were invited on the show. Ironically, the weakest one was probably Martin Short doing Larry David, mostly because Larry’s so incredibly funny on his own and we’d just prefer to see him with Jerry than an impersonation.
As for the great, it was excellent to see Amy Poehler turn up in here for a really back and forth where she played a homeless woman. Also, this was great because of all of the callbacks she made to Kenan Thompson as Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who turned up earlier in the sketch. Also, Maya Rudolph’s impressive of Khloe Kardashian is glorious, especially the part of this where they made her both nine feet tall and completely delusional about whether or not she was funny.
Ultimately, this was a pretty breezy, silly sketch, but it is precisely what we like about this show. They’re able to get big-name guest stars to come on board, and the majority of them thankfully are willing to have fun mocking themselves.
