‘The Amazing Race Canada 4’ episode 2 preview: Will a Detour swap prove costly?
If there is one thing that dooms many teams on any version of “The Amazing Race” around the world, it is impulsiveness. You have to know when something is worth trying, and when the timing is right to walk away. After all, there are so many times in which we’ve seen teams walk away from something much earlier than they should have, and they’ve had to deal with a little bit of consequences as a result of that.
Specifically, we saw this just last week on “The Amazing Race Canada” premiere courtesy of two teams in Anthony & Brandon and Kelly & Kate. Had they just waited a while longer, all of the teams were going to be assessed a rain delay that would have kept them from having to complete the task in the air anyway. Sure, they couldn’t predict that, but you have to be aware that lengthy penalties are so much longer than they seem in the heat of the race.
Sometimes, there can be similar consequences to switching Detours, and in a sneak peek that you can see here from Tuesday’s episode, Steph & Kristen are going to elect to do just this after becoming frustrated with their task. It’s hard to assess if this was the right or wrong move for them before seeing the episode, but without a doubt this is an enormous risk that can put them behind.
The biggest reason we worry is because we think these two ladies have a great of going super-far in this season, and we were probably more impressed with them than anyone else in the premiere. Sure, Jillian & Emmett finished in first place, but they also bickered more.
