‘Orange is the New Black’ season 5: What could the future hold for Piper, Alex?

We’re now at the end of our “Orange is the New Black” review here at CarterMatt, and we’re now at a time when we can start to actually look ahead more to the future of the show! Specifically, we’re talking about giving you Alex / Piper fans out there something to cling to while we wait the many months for the fifth season to premiere. While it looked almost impossible for the two of them to connect at points this season, as time when on the ice did thaw, and you can certainly say that it got a little closer.

Will it last, or will they face further hurdles? A lot of that is still a mystery since these are two characters who have done bad things and have a rocky history and then some. Yet, they do have something that does bind them together, which is what Laura Prepon describes to The Hollywood Reporter while setting up where the story could go from here:

“We’ve seen Alex and Piper go through so many things, but it’s always grounded in the fact that they do really love each other … It’s this whole push-pull thing and that’s not going to change anytime soon. I don’t know if people like that can stay together for too long. But whatever comes in season five will be great. You just can’t control where your heart goes.”

Even though production will be going on for much of the next several months, you’ll have to wait for some time to see what lies ahead and we’re fine with that. One of the side-effects that can come with burning through a show is that you have a little bit of a hangover, you wait for a while, and then you potentially watch it again while waiting for the next season.
