Is ‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 new tonight? Also, filming speculation
We want to take a two-pronged approach with this particular “Game of Thrones” article, mostly because it begins with unfortunate news: There is no new episode airing on HBO tonight. The season (unfortunately) came to a close last week with “The Winds of Winter,” but given that there has yet to be a season so far with more than ten episodes, it shouldn’t come as much of a shock that we’re now stuck in the waiting game.
How long will we have to wait? That is a good question; usually new seasons premiere in April, but given that there may only be seven episodes in season 7, we would not be altogether stunned to learn that it will not premiere until May. We’ll have more discussion one way or another on that subject eventually, as there is no real need to hurry that along right now.
In regards to filming these new episodes, that date is coming up a little bit sooner. We have already learned the directors for season 7, and to go along with that, there has already been reports that filming will remain in Northern Ireland. While the Brexit vote may have sent shockwaves throughout much of Great Britain, it is reportedly not going to have any serious impact on production. Therefore, that is at least one less thing that you have to worry about. Given that HBO had an incredibly-closed set last year thanks to the show being ahead of the books, we have to think this tradition will continue and the best thing we can hope to get into the press is a listing of various guest stars.
