‘Hell on Wheels’ season 5, episode 12 preview: We return to Cullen, Mei
Tonight’s episode of “Hell on Wheels” definitely proved itself to be rather different than almost any other one that has aired as of late, and there were two separate reasons for that: The rather substantial time jump that featured a rather grim future for Thomas Durant, and then also the lack of Cullen Bohannon. We suppose that in part this was a way to focus in on some supporting characters, especially since you want all of them to have closure. We feel like we have that now with Durant, even if it is not a form of closure many people out there imagined.
For next week, we’re focusing back in on Cullen and life with the Central Pacific. Not only that, but we’re also going to see his relationship with Mei hit a significant snag as Chang figures out her secret. As a result of that, Bohannon is going to do his part to free her from Chang’s grasp, but that will prove to be a much more difficult task than he first imagined.
The official synopsis below via TV Guide offers up a little more insight into where Cullen’s head is at, and also where it could be as he tries to navigate the potential land-mines of his situation with Mei:
“Chang discovers Mei’s secret and forces her to flee Truckee. Meanwhile, Cullen’s search for her brings new realizations while exorcising old demons.”
We hate to end this preview on a down note, but it bears reminding you that there are only three episodes left this season. Therefore, enjoy every minute of these.

Interesting. I watch the show through Amazon (a day after it airs on TV) and I just watched episode 12, not 11. Twelve is great. Not sure why we didn’t get 11. I started reading the review and was so confused.
