‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: Cody Rhodes, Stephen Amell to reunite

Is Star City about to get a little bit of Stardust? Well, to a certain extent.

While at Heroes & Villains FanFest this weekend, Stephen Amell announced that his friend and pro wrestler Cody Rhodes, who went by the famous moniker prior to leaving the WWE earlier this year, are going to reunite on “Arrow” at some point moving forward this year. The Amell – Stardust feud began with a lot of trash-talk online, prior to Stephen showing up during an episode of RAW and getting into it with him in the wring. The two later took part in a tag-team match, with them simultaneously raising a ton of money for charity through the sale of shirts. We really can’t say enough how much we like how they were able to use their fun wrestling-feud for the sake of helping others.

At this time, there is not any news regarding who Rhodes is going to play, but he’s not the first pro wrestler to turn up in the DC Comics universe on The CW. Adam Copeland turned up on the season 2 premiere of “The Flash” in the role of Atom-Smasher, so there is a little bit of a precedent here.

Above all else, we love that this casting is happening just from the standpoint of fun, and being a nice little Easter egg for fans of Amell’s outside the show to have something to look forward to. Also, it is a nice full-circle moment for the two given that Stephen has already been in his world.
