Is ‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 13 (finale) new tonight? The waiting game
For all fans of “Outlander,” we absolutely understand why there is a thirst to see the next new episode of the show. After all, we’re talking about the finale entitled “Dragonfly in Amber,” and an episode that will complete the arc as present for Claire and Jamie Fraser. From here, it’s not entirely clear when the third season will premiere.
Unfortunately, you are going to be stuck waiting to see it for one more week. The decision to not air “Dragonfly in Amber” this weekend is one made by Starz, with the knowledge in mind that the July 4 holiday is one where many people prefer to spend time outdoors and with friends and family. There’s really not the same interest in watching new television as there typically is, though we do believe personally most “Outlander” viewers would be there tonight with bells on had the network decided to put it on the air. Still, there is ratings evidence out there from prior years of programming that backs up effectively some of the network’s beliefs here.
Also, “Outlander” is far from the only show out there who has made the decision to take this holiday off; for example, “Bones” and “Girl Meets World” already delayed new episodes because of this, and on Monday everything from “The Bachelorette” to “Major Crimes” will be waiting until the next week to continue their own story.
Rest assured that as we get closer to the finale airing, we will be ramping up some of our own coverage, including discussing the big debut of Roger and Brianna (pictured above) and some of the key decisions that Jamie and Claire make. Remember that the finale is 90 minutes long, so you’re getting an extra half-hour to try and compensate for having another week to wait.
