‘Doctor Who’ spoilers: Show boss teases Christmas Special before season 10

Doctor Who -The tenth season of “Doctor Who” doesn’t premiere until at some point next year, but rest assured that you will get to check out something rather fun before then in the Christmas Special! The BBC series is continuing that tradition of course with an installment later this year, but they remain surprisingly coy about just what that episode is going to be about or who is going to be in it. The only thing that we know for certain is that we will not be seeing Pearl Mackie debut as Bill.

In talking about this further in a new interview with Doctor Who Magazine, show executive producer Steven Moffat passed along the following message:

“We’ll introduce [Bill] in the first episode of 2017, and she’ll run through that series. She’ll not be in Christmas [2016], because that would blow the series launch … So there’ll be somebody else – a different, guest companion – this Christmas, like how River Song played the companion role in last year’s Special.”

We certainly have heard rumors about John Barrowman being a special guest, but it is hard to really entertain any of these since there are so many different ways the show could go. Maisie Williams would be another fun possibility, and so would bringing back a companion or a character we haven’t seen in a while. Given that it is Christmas, the only thing that we really ask for out of this special is that it proves itself to be rather fun.
