‘Mr. Robot’ season 2 spoilers: Rami Malek, Christian Slater tease what is next
The second season of “Mr. Robot” is coming later this month, and of course, it’s easy to be excited about it. How can you not be when you consider the overall level of quality the first time around, and some of the hype and intrigue that is already out there?
Speaking of hype, Rami Malek gave a really great quote to Entertainment Weekly about what some of the themes are for the upcoming episodes, which gives you in turn a pretty good sense of what you have to be excited about:
“In season 1 there were these themes of consumer debt and our relationship with technology, and all of these internal struggles that these characters have. The second season plays into the consequences and repercussions of what these characters did. Right vs. wrong, and what that means to us of us. Our characters deal with this idea of control, what control is or if it is just an illusion.”
Christian Slater, meanwhile, offers up little more other than reflecting on the first season, and saying that it is really difficult to tease anything further. We imagine that he’s probably right, given just what the stakes are for the show and the in which the story is told. We do at least know that there will be some new characters, a small time jump, and a chance to learn even more about Malek’s Elliot than we did through the topsy-turvy season 1.
