TV Quick Hits: ’12 Monkeys’ renewed; ‘Liv & Maddie’ series finale films; ‘American Crime’ gets Felicity Huffman back
“12 Monkeys” renewed – Let’s begin this latest edition of Quick Hits with news that is coming from Syfy: There is no reason to worry about the future of “12 Monkeys.” The network has confirmed that the series will be back for a third season.
In a statement, (per Entertainment Weekly) Jeff Wachtel, chief content officer of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and president of Universal Cable Productions, had the following to say:
“This season of 12 Monkeys has proven to be a breakthrough … From its epic storytelling to its grand aesthetic, Terry and the cast and crew have invested boundless energy and passion, and it showed. New legions of fans will discover what devoted viewers already know: It’s one of the best shows on television.”
As for some other stories from the day…
“American Crime” brings back Felicity Huffman – For those of you who did want to see more of Huffman on the series, you gotta consider this tremendous news: She’s coming back! This news was first reported by Deadline, and while there is not exactly a whole lot of information out there as to who she will be playing, for now hearing this news alone is going to have to suffice.
Say goodbye to “Liv & Maddie” – While the final episodes are not going to air for many months, star Dove Cameron (who played both of the title characters on the family comedy) posted on Twitter that she has wrapped up work on the series. She is far from done with the Disney Channel, though, given that she is still immersed in the popular “Descendants” franchise.
We’ll hopefully have a chance to learn more soon about the end of the series.

Amazing that a show with a 0.11 average rating per episode was renewed. Why do we need Nielsen ratings anymore?. A 3 year old could have made this decision, which is why almost everyone at SYFY should be FIRED immediately. The fans should be happy with a 10 episode season three renewal, but this is an absolute disgrace This is the lowest rated show ever renewed in the history of TV. The fact that NBC Universal either let this happen and/or signed off on this tells you there are lots of people that need to be shown the door there too.
