Ratings: ‘American Ninja Warrior’ ties ‘The Bachelorette’ as ‘BrainDead,’ ‘Mistresses’ steady
Say what you will about the declining ratings on many different nights of television, but we can at least say this about Mondays: They do a good job of staying as close to being “steady as a rock” as humanly possible.
The good news – Obviously, you have to celebrate if you are either ABC or NBC when it comes to some of the ratings that they’re getting for established hits. For “The Bachelorette,” you cannot fault a summer show getting an incredible 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic during the summer. Many shows during the season are not even getting that even more. “American Ninja Warrior” also posted the same rating, which is equally impressive.
One thing worth pointing out with “The Bachelorette” is that right now, the show is actually ahead of last year’s pace in the demo; the only reason the two average the same rating right now for the season as a whole is because last season is inflated somewhat because of the finale. If this season posts similar numbers there, it’ll finish out ahead.
Also … good news for Fox? While a 0.9 for “So You Think You Can Dance” is not tremendous, we will admit that the ratings are better off this season than we thought that they would be going into the night.
The bad news – Sure, both “BrainDead” and “Mistresses” stayed steady with a 0.5 and 0.7 rating in the demo, but you are going to have a really hard time convincing us that these numbers are anywhere near as good as they should be given either lead-in or network expectations.
