‘Turn: Washington Spies’ season 4: Renewal odds for AMC historical drama
Tonight on AMC, one of the network’s most underrated series is coming to a close in “Turn: Washington’s Spies” … at least for the time being.
Is season 3 going to be the end of the road for this particular historical drama? Going into the finale, we do think that it is understandable to have a certain degree of fear. The ratings for the show have not been great, and they have been down more than 30% in the 18-49 demographic when you are talking about live+same day numbers. While this show does benefit greatly from DVR recordings and other viewings, the reality here still is that live viewing is the easiest way to monetize a show. That is why this is always encouraged.
When you compare it to the ratings of most other AMC scripted shows, most of the comparisons are not friendly ones. However, if there is one interesting comparison to make, it is between this and another underrated series in “Halt and Catch Fire,” which was renewed for a third season recently despite posting largely-similar numbers in the demo. Therefore, it’s not a 100% certainty that season 3 is the end of the road here, provided that the network has some sort of structure in place for further stories to be told.
Hopefully, we will find out one way or another as to the show’s future soon. It’s already bad enough that the show is airing tonight without any sort of definite indication as to what the future is going to be.

Why don’t they use DVR. My whole family watches the show, but seriously who watches anything live anymore.

Hope it is renewed. It has gotten better each season, and Owain Yeoman (as Benedict Arnold) is outstanding.
