‘Game of Thrones’ season 6, episode 10 (finale): Lena Headey on Cersei’s big move
Who imagined that we would see such a drastic change in leadership on the “Game of Thrones” finale Sunday night? We certainly thought that it was possible there would be a new person sitting on the Iron Throne, and at the end of the installment, we learned that this person was Cersei Lannister. Her children were all dead, the prophecy was complete, but she does have more power than ever before.
So what did Lena Headey think about this change? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actress made it clear that she didn’t see this coming at all:
“I couldn’t believe it, obviously. I was really shocked. I read it like nine times, like, ‘You’re joking!’ Then I’m left to wonder who’s going to take her down. She may only be there for a second. You do think, ‘What the f— comes next?’ Then we start again to play that game we all play each season, ‘Who’s going to be on the Iron Throne next?'”
Ultimately, the idea of Cersei on the throne certainly could be completely insane to watch, but we’re not sure she will be there long. There are so many people trying to get to the throne now that it is easily comprehensible that someone like Dany, someone from House Stark, or even a surprise contender could end up on the throne. After all, at present it certainly feels as though King’s Landing is in shambles, and not really in much of a position to fight.
