‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7 spoilers: What lies ahead for Adam and Kono?

To think that if this was springtime, we’d have a chance to write a little bit more about a new “Hawaii Five-0” episode airing on CBS tonight. Alas, it’s not, and with that we have to pontificate a little bit more on what could be when the show returns in September.

We already assume that Danny and McGarrett are going to have a little bit of a different relationship thanks to the transplant in the finale, and they may not be the only ones dealing with some (metaphorical) shifting sands. With Adam potentially getting out of prison next season, he and Kono have to try and establish a relationship again after going through some incredibly tough times. This is something that executive producer Peter M. Lenkov teased to Entertainment Weekly, making us feel even more that this is not necessarily going to be an easy transition:

“These two people have to get to know each other again. Some of that erodes when there’s distance. Especially being in prison, your mind starts to wander and you start to question things. But their relationship is in a healthy place, I just think that they’re going to need to get to know each other again when he comes out. But I think she will trust him.”

Given everything that Kono has been through over the years, we don’t think it’s asking too much for her to have a little bit of happiness. The largest test here at present is just going to be trying to figure out if said happiness sticks!
