‘Bachelor in Paradise 3’ spotlight: Is there hope for Nick Viall at all?
We are sure that there are many people out there who have an almost-visceral reaction to Nick Viall being on “Bachelor in Paradise.” After all, he is not the most universally-loved contestant in the history of the show. There are people who really love the guy, but also plenty of them who would really just like to never see him again on reality TV.
Before we get any further into this article, we will admit that we’re a Nick fan, other than that time with him and Kaitlyn Bristowe that we blame production for mostly because we had to listen to the two of them behind the door. We find him entertaining since he’s honest, he isn’t afraid to be disliked, and we also do think that he would like to have a wife. Is he having a hard time convincing us that he’s not fame-hungry at this point? Definitely, since this is almost Chris Bukowski territory now.
Show experience – He placed second to Josh Murray on Andi Dorfman’s season of “The Bachelorette,” otherwise known as that thing she mapped out in her book. Then, he came in second to Shawn Booth on Kaitlyn’s season. It didn’t look like he’d ever do the franchise again … and yet, here we are. We have to imagine that ABC gave him a pretty good payday to consider this.
Romance potential – Moderately high. Nick may not have gotten a fiancee out of either season, but he did make it far and there were seemingly some feelings there. Unless everyone is deathly afraid of reputation or whatnot, he’ll at least get a chance to go on a few dates.
Drama potential – Moderately high. While Nick’s not a Chad who is just going to deliberately attack the other guys and try to make them uncomfortable, he’s also not the sort of contestant who will shy away from conflict. He’ll cause problems, which is absolutely wonderful for us as a viewer … even if it is terrible for most of the people he is competing against. We’re excited to see what he’ll do.
