‘The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 5 preview: The two-hour event is coming…

Night Shift -Do you have some extra time on your plate next week? We certainly hope so, given that we are going to have two episodes of “The Night Shift” airing back-to-back! This is a great opportunity to push forward this story in a big way, and we imagine that for NBC, this is most likely an attempt on their part in order to ensure that they have enough episodes done and over before we get around to the Olympics next month.

Before we do anything else, let’s go ahead and share the two episode synopses below, as they signal some very big things coming for a wide variety of the characters on the show.

Episode 3×05, “Get Busy Living” – “A college co-ed falls from a balcony and once she is in the ER, TC (Eoin Macken) and Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) find that her situation is even more complex. Jordan (Jill Flint) bonds with a terminal patient who teaches her some important lessons about living. TC’s errant sister-in-law Annie (guest star Sarah Jane Morris) returns and hopes to make amends. Meanwhile, AnnaLynne McCord guest stars as Jessica – a pharmaceutical rep with cutting-edge equipment that Scott (Scott Wolf) is so close to getting for the hospital – if her tension with TC doesn’t kill the deal. Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, JR Lemon and Tanaya Beatty also star.”

Episode 3×06, “Hot in the City” – “Shannon (Tanaya Beatty) and Jordan (Jill Flint) venture out for some fun at a local wrestling event only to find themselves treating people on site when a fight breaks out amongst the audience. Back at the hospital, Sam (guest star Michael Cassidy) attends to a marathon runner who has collapsed from the heat and things start to heat up even more when the air conditioning breaks. Meanwhile, tensions between TC (Eoin Macken), Jordan, Sam, and Annie (guest star Sarah Jane Morris, “Grey’s Anatomy”) start to boil.”

From here, we’re going to be more or less at the halfway point in the season, and with that, “The Night Shift” better get busy crafting what they want the narrative to be as we get close to the end of the season, especially with its future beyond next year unclear.
