Emmys 2016: ‘black-ish,’ ‘Gilmore Girls’ stars to announce nominees
We’ve been spending a lot of time as of late discussing the Emmys and potential nominees, so why not spend a moment or two discussing the actual nomination telecast on July 14?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lauren Graham of “Gilmore Girls” and Anthony Anderson of “black-ish” fame are both going to be taking part in the annual event at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time (8:30 a.m. Pacific). That’s right: For the second straight year, we are going to have a chance to watch this announcement a little bit later in the morning.
As for whether or not Anderson could get a nomination right in the middle of this broadcast, we have a feeling that it’s likely. After all, he is on one of the better comedies on TV! The bummer for Graham is that “Gilmore Girls” is not even out yet, and therefore, it’s hard for her to be particularly eligible.
In a statement per the aforementioned site, Bruce Rosenblum, the Television Academy chairman and CEO, had the following to say:
“Television is enjoying the most spectacular run in its history with breakthrough creativity, emerging platforms and dynamic new opportunities for our industry’s storytellers … We are thrilled to have Anthony and Lauren on board to help kick-off what promises to be an extraordinary Emmy season.”
Trust us that after the nominees are announced, we’re going to have a whole lot more to say about them! We’re hoping that this is going to be a super-fun, eventful awards season for all things TV.
