‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 7, episode 5 preview: What’s next for Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander in ‘Shadow of Justice’
Tonight, “Rizzoli & Isles” aired a story entitled “Post Mortem” that was a mixture of what you often love about this show. There was a case at the center of the hour with some funny moments, but we also had some more personal plotlines when it comes to Maura’s illness and some relationship-building stuff in general.
Next week, it seems that the show is moving away from a widespread gimmick such as a murder at a zombie convention; instead, “Shadow of Doubt” will give you more of an hour geared towards a race between the investigators and killers. Also, the synopsis below makes it clear that Sasha Alexander’s character will undergo surgery in hopes of improving her condition:
“When a wealthy woman is found dead at the bottom of her stairs, we realize that this was no ordinary slip-and-fall accident. The team is pressed into a game of cat and mouse with a clever killer determined to get away with the perfect crime. Plus, when Maura decides to undergo minor surgery, the surprising part of her healing will be reconnecting with Hope (guest star Sharon Lawrence).”
Hopefully, this episode will work in part to bring the old Maura back, mostly because we do want to see some of this side of the character around before the show comes to a close. Sure, there is something nice about seeing her bust out a vulnerable side, but at the same time, we really want to see some of these characters at their best!

I hope episode 5 gives us more of Maura & Jane and less of these complicated crime cases they must solve in 40 minutes. Some times people & things move so quickly, I record the show so I can go back and watch it again to see what I’ve missed. I have a sad feeling fans of R & I are going to be disappointed with this season and it’s ending. :(

I don’t believe that Maura Isles sings Motown in the shower and in the autopsy room. She’s more of a classics gal.
