‘Real Housewives of Dallas’ season 2: Talking renewal odds for latest Bravo series
Tonight, Bravo is concluding the first season of “The Real Housewives of Dallas” with what is a “supersized” reunion show, one that should carry out the storylines from throughout the season, offer some closure, and of course probably create some more drama in the process! If it didn’t achieve all of this, we’d really question just what the purpose of all of this was.
Before the reunion airs, though, the timing seems right to discuss the show’s long-term future. There is not a renewal for season 2 out there just yet, and we would say that it is a toss-up that it happens at all. What this show has going for it is a cool setting (one that geographically means something to us, given the years we’ve spent in the city) and that it also has some room to growth. We feel like Bravo could go even further over-the-top with Southern flair in promoting the series, given that on paper, this should be the perfect addition to the franchise.
However, it hasn’t really connected in the ratings so far, and is below the performance of many of the network’s other series. Even “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” which premiered earlier this year, performed better. Granted, it had the #1 version of the franchise in the Atlanta show before it, but this all may come down to whether or not Bravo feels as though there is more that they can take away from this show and use for another year.
Personally, we’d say to give it another go. It wasn’t a disaster like “The Real Housewives of DC,” and even Miami got another kick at the can after its first season.
