Ratings: ‘Bones’ season 11 falls; ‘Aquarius’ season 2 starts low
It was only a couple of days ago when we were singing the praises of some of the shows this summer for managing to pull some solid numbers … and then we saw the numbers for Thursday and completely changed our mind. If there is one word that we’d use to describe these, really without any hesitation at all, it is “bad.” Seriously, these numbers are a gut-punch for the networks and they should make them think further about how they are programming this night.
Let’s start with the fact that “Aquarius” could not get above a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic through any of its first three episodes, and that is pretty terrible given the night. Granted, NBC never should have renewed this in the first place when looking at their numbers for season 1, which were so miserable that the show was moved to Saturday nights with “Hannibal” at one point.
Over on Fox, “Bones” was the #1 scripted drama on the night, but that was only with a 0.7 rating. The premiere of “Home Free” drew a 0.6, which makes us think more so than anything else that Tim Tebow is really not the ratings draw that Fox assumed that he would be going into this.
We haven’t really talked much about the ratings for “Beauty and the Beast” before now, but in doing so at this moment, we can tell you that they’re not great. The latest episode scored just a 0.2 rating, but there is obvious a caveat in that this show is in its final season already, so there’s nothing for any long-term fans to worry about here in the end.
