Nickelodeon confirms title of ‘Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie,’ announces cast

Arnold -While we have known more or less for years now that “Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie” was a passion project for creator Craig Bartlett, it was certainly a joyous occasion last year to know that the TV movie was finally greenlit by Nickelodeon. It’s a part of the network’s effort to further promote nostalgia in just about any and every way possible, and this includes by bringing back some fan favorites from ages past.

Today, the network made the aforementioned title official, and they also announced that many of the same voice actors from the original series will return: Francesca Marie Smith (Helga), Anndi McAfee (Phoebe), Olivia Hack (Rhonda), Nika Futterman (Olga), Dan Castellaneta (Grandpa), and Tress MacNeille (Grandma). There will be new voices for Arnold and Gerald in Mason Vale Cotton and Benjamin Flores Jr., respectively. This does not really surprise us, especially given that a wide array of voice actors have taken on the Arnold character over the years.

While specific plot points of the movie have not been revealed, our hope is that it will take on the subject matter of Arnold’s parents in a big way, given that this was a focal point of the episode “The Journal,” which was really believed to be a precursor to “The Jungle Movie.” We’d also love to imagine this movie leading into more individual episodes of the show, but that’s probably a little too much wishful thinking on our part, at least for the time being.
