‘Hell on Wheels’ season 5, episode 9 preview: What follows the showdown in ‘Return to the Garden’

The first episode of “Hell on Wheels” season 5 proved itself to be an epic affair, and one that (somehow) managed to live up to much of the hype of a showdown between Cullen Bohannon and The Swede. Eventually, the battle between the two led to Cullen getting in a place where he could actually have justice, rather than taking justice for himself.

So with Thor Gundersen dead, where does the story go now? Ultimately, we imagine us traversing back to what the original focus of the show is: The railroad. It still needs to be completed, and there are other orders of business that need to be attended to for some of the other characters like Eva, Mickey, and Durant who were not a focus of tonight’s installment. We know that the writers definitely have every intention in the world in wrapping these stories up, or at least sending them off in new directions where we can imagine their future.

What we can tell you now is that the title for the next episode is “Return to the Garden,” which is certainly symbolic in many different ways since we are going to see the railroad become the focus again, and the same goes for some of our supporting characters.
