‘Wayward Pines’ season 2, episode 3 reaction: Melissa Leo on Pam’s (brief) return

Wayward Pines -

The great news about Wednesday night’s new episode of “Wayward Pines” is that we had a chance to see the return of Melissa Leo as Pam for the first time this season. Unfortunately, this was yet another instance of an actor from the first season coming in, doing an episode, and having their character get killed off.

Why does this keep happening? Scheduling is a big part of the reason why, stemming mostly from how this show was originally envisioned a limited series, and one that also filmed years ago. Many of these people, including Leo, have moved on and done other things.

In the end, we saw Pam die at the hands of Jason, and this move for him came after she attempted to destroy the town from within with smallpox.

In terms of what it was like for Leo to film this goodbye scene, and also how they were able to make this happen in the first place in Vancouver, the actress said the following to Entertainment Weekly:

“A death scene is a delicate scene. We were shooting in the delicate woods in Vancouver, and that area is so in need of funding that they fund this preserved forest by allowing filming to happen in it, so in the middle of the night, when I’m being killed, I was very grateful to the crew. They were astonishing and quick and did it very quickly.”

Leo made it clear that she enjoyed working on the show, even though it did have a number of different hurdles and so many of the original cast members were no longer present.
