‘Wayward Pines’ season 2, episode 4 preview: Xander’s return and fence expansion
You gotta give the crew at “Wayward Pines” some credit for being ambitious, given that we understand there being an interest in wanting to expand their little world. Even in tonight’s episode with Jason’s backstory, you got a further sense of just how difficult it must be to be so relentless confined.
Yet, here’s the problem: The Abbies. It’s pretty darn clear at this point that they are not going anywhere. This is what makes the actions of CJ next week all the more surprising. “Exit Strategy” is the title for this hour, and you can see what he’s up to in the synopsis below:
“Trapped outside the fence at the end of the first episode, Xander returns to Wayward Pines – bringing someone unexpected back with him who helps him learn more about the Abbies’ intentions. Meanwhile, Rebecca puts herself at odds with Megan in order to help Lucy, a young girl who is trying to escape a Wayward Pines tradition, and CJ leads a brave group on an expedition beyond the fence to expand humanity’s claim on the Earth, despite Theo’s protests.”
Is the notion of expanding the fence interesting? Sure, but that’s about it. What is interesting often is not what is right, and that’s something that this town is going to have to continue exploring as we get further and further into the season. We are still in the early changes, and that means that there is plenty of time for what we know to be flipped completely on its head.
