‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2 spoilers: Vixen to be series regular, but a different incarnation

Vixen -

What we have in the case of “Legends of Tomorrow” is clearly a little bit of good news mixed with a little bit of bad.

Let’s start with what we’re sure many people out there would celebrate: Vixen is coming back! This hero and her animal-summoning powers is one of the most interesting characters established in this universe, and she’s got a CW Seed animated series coupled with a live-action appearance from “Arrow” under her belt.

Unfortunately, here is where some of the bad news comes into play. According to Entertainment Weekly, Megalyn EK will not be playing the character who she first brought to us both via her voice-acting and her “Arrow” gig. What’s the issue? It comes to availability, so the producers are bringing in a version of the Vixen character from earlier in the timeline. We wonder if this is the same character who was tied to casting notices looking for an actress to play someone from the past with a military history. We knew that in the wake of Wentworth Miller and Ciara Renee’s departures, they need to book a few new people to pick up the mantel.

Of course, we wish that with this announcement also came news that Matt Ryan could be returning as John Constantine, but we haven’t heard anything on that. If nothing else, we’d just be happy if he surfaced on “The Flash” or somewhere else over the course of the next year.
