Ratings: Chad Johnson – JoJo Fletcher ‘Bachelorette’ drama leads to big numbers; ‘Mistresses’ up

For anyone out there who wondered why in the world “The Bachelorette” is forcing so much of one dude in Chad Johnson down your throat, this is why: The drama gets big ratings. People love seeing what the crazy villain will do just next, and the producers on JoJo Fletcher’s season are going to throw as much of him as humanly possible on the show until we get around to that point.

Last night’s new episode of the reality hit ended up drawing in total a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is a really strong improvement versus the week before. Granted, this past episode aired on Memorial Day, so the natural ceiling when it comes to ratings was significantly smaller than where you are going to have it at some other times in the summer. This was easily enough to give the show the #1 spot on the night, which is mostly good because the show’s losing some of those numbers tonight. It’s inevitable, since this is not a night in which they typically air the show.

Elsewhere, “Mistresses” was clearly aided by it not airing on a holiday, given that it was able to propel itself all the way up to a 0.9 rating. That’s still not phenomenal, but it is more in line with some of the numbers we are used to the show getting.

As for some bad news, “So You Think You Can Dance” with its kid-dancer theme was not really helped at all. Its latest episode ended up drawing just a 1.0 rating, even with the week before.
