Miss USA 2016: Was Emanii Davis, Chelsea Hardin, or Deshauna Barber the winner? (Live updates)

Miss USA -

Tonight, Fox aired for the first time the Miss USA Pageant, and the competition to replace Olivia Jordan proved to be a competitive one. There is a certain element of unpredictability to the broadcast, and while we suppose that some pageant traditionalists may complain about some of the changes that have been made in recent years, we do think the added elements of the public vote and the assorted twist keep people engaged.

As long as it is the judges deciding the winner independent of any other factor, is there really anything to complain about? (Stay tuned — from here on out, we’re going to have some live updates as the pageant wraps up tonight.)

Roughly thirty or so minutes before the end of the broadcast, the final three was made clear: Deshauna Barber (Miss District of Columbia), Emanii Davis (Miss Georgia), and Chelsea Hardin (Miss Hawaii). Superficially, it is super-cool to see DC and Hawaii represented in here, given that we often associate the pageant mostly with states like Georgia in the south.

In the end, Miss Georgia was the second runner-up! Miss Hawaii was the first runner-up, and Miss District of Columbia Deshauna Barber is officially now Miss USA! We didn’t see this result coming at the start of the show, but part of the fun of this broadcast is win unpredictable results like this happen. Do you think that the right person won? We want to hear some of your thoughts in the attached poll!
