‘The Americans’ season 4 finale spoilers: Will Philip, Elizabeth be forced to leave?
“The job wasn’t meant to be forever.”
That particular line above lies within the season 4 finale of “The Americans” on Wednesday night, and it gives you a precise sense of what is at stake for our main characters in Philip and Elizabeth. The stakes have never been higher as they battle the FBI, and at the same time, they also face some more events that hit closer to home than a major mission.
The synopsis below may not offer up too much, but we do think that it sets the foundation for the episode:
“The explosive season finale of The Americans finds Philip and Elizabeth in a high-stakes race against the FBI to recover a hazardous package. Will they get there in time? And will Paige follow her parents into the family business?”
Is it possible that the finale could actually feature Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell’s characters going home? If this as a lesser show, we’d consider such a notion to be a hollow threat, something that you really only see on shows that need some sort of hook in order to convince you to tune in. We do think that there are some genuine stakes here, but at the same exact time, it’s hard to imagine what this series would look like if the majority of it shifted outside of the United States. Also, CTT, otherwise known as “Consider the Title.” It’d be somewhat strange to keep the title of “The Americans” if everything suddenly came to a screeching halt.
