‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7 spoilers: The aftermath of big McGarrett – Danny decision
While there was a lot of intensity surrounding the season 6 finale of “Hawaii Five-0,” one of the elements of the story that we actually appreciated the most was one of its most personal. Specifically, we’re talking here about Danny’s choice to transfer half of his liver over to Steve in order to save his life. These two oft-bickering partners are going to be closer than ever as a result of this move, but it would be wrong to think that this frees them of conflict.
As a matter of fact, executive producer Peter M. Lenkov teases to Entertainment Weekly that this move from the two of them is actually going to work as a source of tension, even if it does also bring them closer together at other points:
“It brings Danny and McGarrett even closer together and it gives them another thing to be arguing about next year … I love the idea that McGarrett is going to abuse that organ, because McGarrett is a person who abuses himself and puts his life in danger all the time. Danny is going to resent the fact that he saved his life because of that. These guys are blood brothers, but now literally they are.”
Ultimately, the more layers that you can give to this partnership, really the better off we’re always going to be. One of the challenges for this show is finding a way to differentiate McGarrett and Danny from many other similar duos on TV, and now, they’ve figured out yet another way for that to happen.
