‘The X-Files’ star Gillian Anderson re-teams with ‘Hannibal’s’ Bryan Fuller on ‘American Gods’
The moment that we learned that Bryan Fuller was going to be adapting “American Gods” for Starz, there was one hope that entered our head: That he would somehow find a way to utilize once more the talents of Gillian Anderson. He found a way to utilize her on both the second and third seasons of “Hannibal,” and she has also worked with him since the conclusion of the show on a PETA ad. The two obviously have a great relationship, and with that, we’re pleased to say that the “American Gods” booking is now official.
As for the role Anderson is playing, early details suggest that this one is going to be a lot of fun. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she is going to be Media, a mouthpiece-of-sorts for the New Gods who really relies and feeds off of the attention given to her. She will certainly be a character packed full of energy, and could have a particularly important role by the time we get around to the end of the season.
Anderson has been incredibly busy over the course of the past couple of years. In addition to doing some stage work with “A Streetcar Named Desire,” Anderson starred in the six-part revival for “The X-Files,” had a role in the BBC epic adaptation of “War and Peace,” and also recently filmed the third and final season of “The Fall” alongside Jamie Dornan. We have no idea how she continues to manage to balance so many different things and the same time but we are very much happy that she does.
“American Gods” is one of the most-anticipated new series out there, so rest assured we’ll have some other TV news as it comes out.
