‘Gilmore Girls’ revival: Jared Padalecki on (brief) return

The “Gilmore Girls” revival entitled “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” is formally coming onto Netflix later this year, and one of the masterful things that executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino has done has figured out a way to assemble many familiar characters from the series’ run, even if they are really busy and have very limited time in their schedules.

One of these said people is Jared Padalecki, as we weren’t quite sure if he was going to get a chance to return as Dean given his work on “Supernatural.” Luckily, and as he explained (per Entertainment Weekly) while at a recent convention, he found a way to make it work:

“I was doing Supernatural, so she basically said, ‘Listen, we’re going to write you a really cool scene, and if you get a day off, let us know and we will just put your scene on the schedule for that day.’ She was like, ‘Listen, it’s a set that we already run and own, it’s an actress that already is working every day, so let us know.’”

Based on that quote it’s easy to assume that he was working with Alexis Biedel, especially given the fact that this is the character most people would want to see Dean with in some shape or form. We don’t think that he will be an integral cog in the overall story, but even a small nod is a nice way to give a conclusion to someone who was once a very important part of the Stars Hollow universe.
