Teen Choice Awards 2016: ‘Supernatural,’ ‘Once Upon a Time,’ ‘Vampire Diaries,’ more battle for Sci-Fi prize
We really don’t think that there are many categories in the Teen Choice Awards right now that are as competitive as the prize for Choice TV Show: Sci-Fi / Fantasy. Every one of the nominees is popular, and they all also are pretty firmly within the teen base. Shows that are on The CW or ABC tend to go well with this core demographic, after all!
Ultimately, take a look at all of the choices below, coupled with our own picks for who will and should win some of the prizes. Also, be sure to vote for your favorite in our poll, and we’ll tell you more in terms of readers’ picks a little bit later in the month.
The nominees
“Arrow”
“iZombie”
“Once Upon a Time”
“Supernatural”
“The Flash”
“The Vampire Diaries”
Who will win – This is not an easy one to call. Two years ago, we’d say that this was a slam-dunk victory for “The Vampire Diaries” given the size of their fan base. However, we’ve since seen it fade, while “The Flash” has become the #1 show on The CW. Ultimately, though, we’re going to stick our neck out here and say that the fairy-tale characters of “Once Upon a Time” have the edge. They have the most viewers, and therefore the most overall fans all over the world who will push the show to victory.
Who should win – Given that we think that all of these shows are rightfully nominated and all likely appeal to some teens out there, that makes it more difficult for us to choose! We’d lean mostly in the favor of “The Flash,” if for no other reason than that we’re convinced that out of the shows chosen, it had the best overall season and is worthy of some love.
