Tonight, the second part of “Roots” likely stirred a flurry of emotions, and by also still be playing your heartstrings even after the story concluded. How in the world do you even continue from there? It’s not an easy question to answer (unless, of course, you’re familiar with the story), but the show is not going to waste too much time before pressing onward.
The third part of the miniseries is going to air at 9:00 p.m. Eastern tomorrow, and it is yet again going to be spread across multiple networks including History, A&E, and Lifetime. Really, just pick whatever network suits you. While the TV Guide description for this particular part of the story does not give much away, it does make it clear that George will receive a good bit of the focus:
“George begins maturing as his adolescence is spotlighted. Later: he vows to buy freedom for him and his family, but his master loses a wager and needs to sell George to save the farm.”
This story will continue moving into Thursday, and while we don’t want to give anything away for those of you watching this play out for the first time, let’s just say that you should anticipate some further jumps in time, and also a few powerful scenes in particular that should help to illuminate precisely why this story was important to re-tell right now, in an era where the original was perhaps fading a little too much into the background. That changes now.
