Will ‘Arrow’ season 5 bring Oliver, Felicity closer together?

OliverMrs. Carter: Are Oliver and Felicity on “Arrow” about to find their footing?

At the moment, we’re not sure that there is a relationship more polarizing on TV than this one, and it’s interesting because two years ago, we’re not sure that there was a ‘ship with a larger percentage of a fan base behind it. There have been some missteps when it comes to how these two have been handled, with one of the biggest issues in our mind being the decision to make the two of them very melodramatic when it comes to the will-they-or-won’t-they of it all. They were better when there was fun banter between the two of them, and also some sort of element of surprise. The friendship could have evolved more naturally into a relationship rather than something that forced the two character to change more than we’d like.

Now that we’ve said all of this … there is still hope. We do think these two have a future together, but at this point they have to almost start from square one and get into more of a friendly place again. Cut out some of the tension, and replace it with some sharp one-liners and missions where the two really get to work together as opposed to having a ton of people around them disrupting their chemistry. Given that there really is no Team Arrow other than the two of them right now, we feel like they are definitely going to have quite the opportunity to bond. Isn’t that something worth checking out? We definitely think so.

We would like to see these two, if they get into a relationship once more, take things a little bit slower. In season 3, they went from not being together to being in a relationship almost overnight, and thanks to the time jump we missed most of the honeymoon period going into season 4. Seeing them date and in more comical situations in Star City would allow the serious scenes to mean more, and give us some of that season 2 attachment back.

Will it happen? We’ll have to wait more than likely until October to find out…
