‘General Hospital’ star Kirsten Storms explains taking leave of absence
One of the bigger headlines as of late in the world of “General Hospital” has been the temporary departure of Kirsten Storms, who plays the role of Maxie Jones. She will be replaced temporarily on the show by Molly Burnett (“Days of Our Lives”), but rest assured that the actress is going to be a part of the show still moving forward.
In speaking out about her exit on Twitter, Storms made it clear that the main reason for her taking some time away was to deal with a skin condition that has worsened due to some stress in her life:
“Tweeters! First, thank you for the outpouring of love & support. I appreciate all the positive message I’ve received … Second, yes I am taking a little break from work due to some skin issues I’ve been having … My dr’s say my breakouts are due to stress, but shouldn’t take too long to get under control. (I can say that I’m on the better end of it now) However, it was becoming too difficult for GH to cover up. And we all know in this biz appearance is important. I look forward to seeing Molly on screen as I take the next few weeks to heal. Again – thanks for the love and you will see me again in no time!”
It’s hardly unusual for a daytime drama to recast character,s even for a temporary period of time. Therefore, we imagine that seeing someone in Burnett playing Jones won’t be too big of a shock. We’ll have some further news when it comes out, so be on the lookout in the upcoming weeks.
