‘Orange is the New Black’ season 4: Taylor Schilling on Piper’s new phase
There is certainly one thing that you can say about Piper on Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black”: She is a trier. She is going to once more make an attempt at taking on a variety of different roles within the world of the show. Not all of them may work out entirely well, but that is not going to stop her from giving them a go.
For the latest example of that, just take a look at what she could be up to in the fourth season, when the character will do her part to try to run things behind the scenes. The cast and crew recently sat down for a Paley Center panel, and per The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor Schilling said the following in terms of what is coming up:
“She’s becoming a little bit of a kingpin and has this swagger … But the feeling I always have about Piper Chapman is that she tries on everything like a piece of clothing — she doesn’t quite fit the jacket, but she tries it on. And I love that about her.”
One of the reasons that this probably works particularly well for this show is that in many ways, it gives it effectively a new coat of paint almost every season. When you run for several years you want to find some ways to keep mixing things up, and this has proven to be rather successful in that department, you just have to hope that they continue to find interesting ways to do so, given that there are still several more seasons ahead.
