While you may have to wait until September (most likely, Netflix hasn’t announced yet) to see more of “Longmire” on Netflix, you don’t have to wait that long at all to celebrate one tremendous achievement: The series making it to 50 episodes!
In the Twitter post below from writer Tony Tost, you can see the likes of Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, and many other cast members / folks behind the scenes smiling and celebrating making it to this point. After all, this is an achievement that was not exactly expected by everyone, especially when you think back to that dark, dark timeline when A&E canceled the show. The fans rallied in order to save it, and since that time it’s had a more stable home on Netflix and we have a fifth season on the way!
One other good thing about celebrating 50 episodes is that it’s not as though these episodes mark the end of the road for the series. It’s certainly possible that Netflix could order even more installments down the line, and the show has some more life left in it. We know in terms of story that there is a lot that could still be told with Walt Longmire and some of these other familiar faces; it’s just all up to the imagination of Tost and the rest of the writers.
So congratulations to the cast and crew — we love this show, and look forward to covering many more episodes in the future. Of course, we’ll have more on season 5 as the news starts to trickle in.
