‘Arrow’ season 4, episode 23 (finale) video: Show exec on the crisis of ‘Schism’

Oliver -

In a matter of mere hours the “Arrow” season 4 finale is going to be upon us, and there’s one thing that we feel like we can say about it already: This is going to be an hour many people talk about for some time. “Schism” will mark a chance to wrap up the story of Damien Darhk, and then also push the show into the future.

In the video below, you can get a solid explanation of the stakes and all of the potential drama ahead via executive producer Wendy Mericle, who also makes it clear why there are so many challenges with Darhk at the moment. He’s still super-charged thanks to all of the dead souls he’s sapped out, and he seems rather invested in creating a hell-on-earth sort of situation for the team.

The biggest question we have regarding the finale, unfortunately, is something that is not explained here. How will the events of the finale of “The Flash” inform the story of this show moving forward? You can certainly argue that without Barry Allen being a CSI, the events of season 2 onward would be slightly different here. Heck, would “Legends of Tomorrow” even exist. We just imagine that if Nora Allen was never killed, Barry would have gone down a different career path without that sort of thirst for justice.

Ultimately, it’s a 50-50 in terms of if “The Flash” is important here. “Arrow” is its own show despite it being a shared universe, and we feel like the finale is going to cater more to the story we’ve seen here over the course of the season.
