‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ finale results: Did Paige VanZant, Nyle DiMarco, or Ginger Zee win?

Tonight, “Dancing with the Stars” had a chance to close the door on its 22nd season of the year with a battle like no other between three people who all fought really hard to get to the end. Yet, only one person could get that Mirrorball, and there’d be a polarizing reaction either way.

In terms of technical ability, to us it felt going in here like Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas should take the title; yet, at the same time our heart was rooting for Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd, who really put their all into every routine and had one of the most difficult journeys we’ve ever seen.

No offense to Ginger Zee and Val Chmerkovskiy, but we really didn’t think that the finale was going to be their night. While Nyle technically got the lowest score on the show Monday night, there was a sentiment among many that he deserved more than what he ended up receiving, and that she may have been scored a little bit too high in return. That was corrected somewhat tonight, as he and Paige outlasted Ginger when it comes to their fusion dances.

Ultimately, Ginger and Val were in third place, and this gave us a chance to brace for the final results. In the end, the winner was … Nyle! We’re so thrilled, given his story, his passion, and above all, his dance. There hasn’t really been anyone quite like him on the show, and he’ll be a great representative for the show moving forward.
