‘Saturday Night Live’ music: Courtney Barnett performs ‘Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party’

SNL -Courtney Barnett may not be a household name to every viewer of “Saturday Night Live,” but we have a feeling that she is a pretty close match to the musical sensibilities of our host for the occasion in Fred Armisen.

The song that Barnett chose to do first on the show was “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party,” which may be one of the longest song titles for anything we’ve had performed on the show all season. This was a little bit of old-school, nineties- era rock in the 2010s. If this is your sort of music, this probably felt like a thrill. For everyone else, maybe the lyrics were a little too hard to comprehend.

Even if you did find yourself to be a little bit more of a detractor, can’t you at least still say that the performance brought a lot to the table when it comes to energy? We enjoyed this most because it did make an effort to at least bring a different sort of music to the table.

We’ll have more on the second song later tonight. Update: This song was entitled “Pedestrian at Best,” and it was similar in some ways to the first. It had a definite punk edge to it, and overall, we’d say that she probably won herself a few fans when it comes to people who enjoy this sort of music. Much as we said earlier, though, this is still not the sort of music for everyone.
