With the season 3 finale of “Chicago PD” coming to NBC on Wednesday, there are many key storylines and issues that are going to be addressed. One of the biggest ones will revolve around Voight learning that his son Justin may be in danger, but we also don’t want to discount or write off the possibility that we could also end up seeing Roman make a big decision. He’s contemplated moving elsewhere, and on the finale he has to ponder whether or not he’s going to be okay with spending the rest of his days at the department behind a desk. It’s a different role than he’s used to, but if he wants to stick around there, he may not have another choice.
In addressing this difficult position for the character in a new chat with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Matt Olmstead had the following message to pass along:
“He’s presented with the option of – because of the injuries – staying on but in a limited capacity in the police department or taking a walk … He has to decide if it’s important to him to help out in any way he can, or is the prospect of a desk job not what he’s up for? In his mind, he weighs it evenly between, ‘If I can’t be a full cop on the street then I’m not going to be a cop at all.’”
One way or another, we imagine that Roman will figure things out in the finale, and in turn, his choice will have ramifications for others. We specifically imagine that Burgess’ future in turns of her work like and her love life will be directly tied to what he wants to do.
