‘The Catch’ season 2: Premiere date speculation and more for Mireille Enos drama

At one point earlier this year, there was a little bit of drama regarding what the fate would be for “The Catch” on ABC. The series, starring Mireille Enos and Peter Krause, was firmly on the ratings bubble, but luckily did score a season 2 renewal not long before the network had its upfront presentation.

Now, we come to another key question: Just when is the show going to return? That’s not something that we have a firm answer to at the moment, given that ABC’s schedule for Thursday nights has become increasingly complicated. Due to Kerry Washington’s pregnancy, “Scandal” season 6 has been delayed until midseason of next year. We imagine that it will replace new drama “Notorious” at 9:00 p.m. Eastern when it does come back, but there is no precise date for that just yet.

The easy assumption for the second season of “The Catch” is that it would come on the air at some point in 2017, and it could easily be in March again once we got to the end of the latest season of “How to Get Away with Murder.” When it comes to timing, there is no better spot to bring it back.

The only twist that could potentially get in the way of this happening is that if it premieres here, it could take away the spot from another series from executive producer Shonda Rhimes in “Still Star-Crossed.” If ABC wants to promote this show further, it could get this spot. At the moment, it’s still rather hard to figure out one way or another precisely what the network will do before some of the ratings for the fall come into play.
