‘Chicago Med’ season 2: Premiere date speculation and much more for NBC drama

Tonight marks the end of the road for “Chicago Med” season 1, as the drama is going to be shutting the doors on the first season. With that said, though, this is far from the end of the road for the series as a whole.

NBC announced some time ago that the drama would be returning for a second season, and while we may not know just yet when precisely it will be returning, there are at least a couple of things we know. First and foremost, the show will likely premiere earlier this season, presumably as early as September. Also, it will be airing Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, leading out of a comedy block and leading into “The Blacklist,” which is moving an hour later on the schedule.

What is the logic behind the move? Our feeling here is mostly that this will allow the “Chicago” franchise to have a greater command, and also boost some of NBC’s ratings across the board. Thursday night especially needs a little bit of work.

The one little thing that we should remind you of here right now is that there are going to be a few little hurdles that come into play when it comes to a second season for the show, namely that with NBC getting some NFL games on Thursday nights later on in the season, there will probably be some sort of hiatus in November that lasts for a few weeks. Plan ahead.
