AMC orders ‘Talking Preacher’ aftershow to accompany ‘Preacher’ premiere, finale
At the moment, it’s pretty clear that AMC has some pretty darn high hopes for their upcoming comic-book adaptation of “Preacher.” After all, they are officially giving it an aftershow before the series premiere even airs.
The show is entitled (fittingly) “Talking Preacher,” and will be hosted by the network’s aftershow guru in Chris Hardwick, who has hosted shows this year already on “The Walking Dead,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” and “Better Call Saul.” What’s a little wonky here is the scheduling of it all. The “Preacher” premiere is actually coming on Sunday, May 22 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, as the 90-minute first episode will follow the midseason finale for “Fear the Walking Dead.”
When you think about this, doesn’t it make some sense that “Talking Preacher” would just air late after the premiere? You’d think so, but AMC is throwing us for a loop here in not airing it until Sunday, May 29 at 10:30 p.m. Eastern, following an encore of the first episode. We do realize that the aftershow would be airing really late if it followed the premiere, but that’s a new episode! Also, the 29th is right in the middle of Memorial Day Weekend, and we imagine that there are going to be a ton of people out there with other stuff going on.
The “Talking Preacher” schedule this season is fairly similar to what it was for “Talking Saul,” as you’ll have to wait until the July 31 season finale to see the next episode of it.
We’re going to have more coverage of “Preacher” in due time, so be sure to be on the lookout for that over the weeks ahead! Also, you can sign up over here to get some more TV news on all we cover, sent right over to you via our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: AMC.)
