Is ‘The Good Wife’ season 7 new tonight? Why the story may not be over…
If you’ve just been a casual viewer of “The Good Wife,” you may be somewhat surprised to learn that there is no new episode of the CBS series airing on Sunday night. What gives? Well, it’s as simple as this past episode being the series finale.
What you may also be surprised to know now is that the story for some of the characters within this world is not entirely over just yet. Earlier this week, we first heard that CBS All Access may bring back this world for an upcoming series, with Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo reprising their roles as Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn, respectively. There are not a plethora of details available for this just yet, save that the first episode would be written by original creators Robert and Michelle King before someone else took over as showrunners.
Do we think this will happen? Signs point to yes, mostly because of the quality of this world and also CBS’ desire to beef up their streaming platform. As of right now, their biggest sell is the “Big Brother” live feeds, though they are also adding to the list an upcoming “Star Trek” series executive-produced by Bryan Fuller. Both of these shows are of the quality to exist on CBS itself, so hopefully they will help to make some people out there want to spend the money per month to check out some of this content, plus being able to watch old favorites.
We imagine that we’ll have a little bit more to say about this project at upfronts later this week, so stay tuned…
