NBC 2016 Fall Schedule: ‘The Blacklist,’ ‘Blindspot,’ ‘Chicago Med’ on the move
This morning NBC officially unveiled their full fall schedule, and there are some treats in here for those of you who do like to analyze such matters closely. Several shows are on the move, and the network thankfully continues to prioritize quality over studio ownership in giving shows from outside studios such as “Timeless,” a subject of great buzz, prime spots on the schedule.
Let’s go ahead and share with you the full schedule, followed then by some analysis. We’re not including Sundays since this is the fall, and NBC airs Sunday Night Football in that spot.
Mondays
8:00 p.m. Eastern – “The Voice”
10:00 – “Timeless” (new drama)
Tuesdays
8:00 – “The Voice”
9:00 – “This Is Us” (new drama)
10:00 – “Chicago Fire”
Wednesdays
8:00 – “Blindspot”
9:00 – “Law & Order: SVU”
10:00 – “Chicago PD”
Thursdays
8:00 – “Superstore”
8:30 – “The Good Place” (new comedy)
9:00 – “Chicago Med”
10:00 – “The Blacklist”
Fridays
8:00 – “Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon”
9:00 – “Grimm”
10:00 – “Dateline”
Of this roster, the “Blindspot” move is the most interesting since the network is throwing a popular season 1 show in a timeslot that has been a significant challenge for them as of late. Who knows? Maybe it could pose a real threat to “Survivor” or ABC’s comedies, who has dominated this spot.
Also, “The Blacklist” is going to try to shore up a later Thursday slot that has been trouble, and clearly NBC wants to scatter around their “Chicago” series to different nights in hopes of not loading one down too much. There are no enormous shockers on this list, other than maybe the network forcing its one hour of comedy up against “The Big Bang Theory,” the #1 show in the genre on TV.
We’re going to be back later with some more news from upfronts, so stay tuned.
