‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Josh Curnow disappoints David Walliams greatly
We have already said until we’re blue in the face that David Walliams is our favorite judge on any talent competition out there; if we have to say it any more, we may well faint! Therefore, a word to the wise: Have a bucket of water or something nearby.
In the sneak peek below from this weekend’s new “Britain’s Got Talent” episode, we’re going to get a chance to see precisely why we love David so. There’s no real audition included in here! Instead, we simply get a chance to meet singer-songwriter Josh Curnow, and the moment he says that he has a girlfriend, David gets extremely disappointed and tries to buzz him offstage. Yes, this is all shtick, but at the same time, it’s fun shtick and everyone is in on the joke.
We just hope that after spending so much time here on the setup, the performance that follows it up is going to be equally great. Is that really too much to hope for? We don’t think so. According to the video description he will be performing Green Day’s “Basket Case,” which certainly is an interesting choice given the sort of music that we hear on this show more often than not. It really has to be original to wow us here; given that there are so many other singing shows out there, especially relative to the population of Britain, there really has to be something that impresses us.
Here’s a fun / terrifying fact for you: Even though America has multiple times more people than Britain, with “American Idol” over Britain now has more singing shows between this, “The X Factor,” and “The Voice UK.” Hopefully, Josh is a remaining drop of water from a drying talent pool.
