‘The Blacklist’ season 3, episode 22 reaction: Show boss on Tom Keen twist
Tonight, we got a very good idea what the central conceit could be for “The Blacklist” and its upcoming spin-off, provided of course that this one ends up airing. After all, we now learn a thing or two regarding just who Tom Keen really is: The long-lost daughter of Scottie Hargrave.
Yes, the whole “child of a criminal mastermind” thing has been hinted at on the show forever when it comes to Liz and Red, but we still do not thing that this is actually the case. With this relationship, the show came out and said it courtesy of Reddington, and that helped to ensure in turn that Tom did not kill his mom. He’s looking for something, and that is something that executive producer Tom Bokenkamp explained further to Entertainment Weekly in talking further about this episode:
“Tom has a child now, he’s trying to go clean, he’s trying to reboot his life. Tom’s a little like Pinocchio; he’s a boy who wants to be real. He wants to love, but he’s not equipped with that skill. This news, the promise of who he is, is exciting, but it’s also a double-edged sword. On one hand, it presents him with potential answers about who he is. On the other hand, Scottie Hargrave is a dangerous woman, so he has to be careful about how he proceeds.”
One way or another, we know that Tom is going to be in trouble. All we can really hope for is that by the end of this upcoming finale, we’re going to be entertained one way or another by the aftermath of all the chaos. Also, let’s hope for some more news on whether or not Liz Keen is really dead.
