‘Agents of SHIELD’ spin-off ‘Marvel’s Most Wanted’ not going forward at ABC
Just in case you were wondering, not every spin-off show is guaranteed a green light just because it gets interest from the network. Heck, in some ways “Marvel’s Most Wanted” knows this better than anyone.
Today, it has been revealed that ABC is not looking to move forward with the spin-off to “Agents of SHIELD,” despite having a captivating set of leads in Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood. This spin-off was planted earlier this year, when their characters of Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter went on the run after executing an operation. They were without a country, and in some ways without a home.
This is the second time that ABC has passed on this project; it was first explored last year, but they opted to not move forward and brought the two actors back to “Agents of SHIELD” instead. While there could have been problems with the concept of this series, we foresee that the larger problem here was probably the mere fact that the ratings for the flagship really don’t merit a spin-off at this point. Why would you order an extension of a show that is barely averaging around a 1.0 in the 18-49 demographic for 2016? It’s not hard to figure out, even if we like the characters and are sad about it.
Right now, the network is making it clear that they are not too thrilled with their crop of Marvel shows at present; after all, “Agent Carter” was also canceled, which makes “SHIELD” their only entry for the first time since its first season. That puts Marvel in a position where they have to figure out something else.
